Since November 2017, a law has come into force requiring Russian search engines to remove all links to blocked sites and their mirror copies from search results. Yandex and Google have already launched this functionality, although it still doesn't work very well. If Google is blocked in Russia, it would be a real disaster. Everyone would lose access to their email, videos, app store, and operating systems. The biggest impact would be on Android smartphone users, as such mobile devices would no longer function normally. They are all tied to a Google account, and if access is interrupted, downloading apps and other information would completely stop.
